🔗 Share this article UN:Me: An Psychological Thriller That Blends Survival Horror and Among Us Mechanics The recent Day of the Devs online presentation unveiled several intriguing upcoming titles, but one especially has captured attention: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this solo experience seems to blend the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill title with the paranoid deduction heart of Among Us. "It's a distinctive experience where a young woman containing several personalities within her needs to flee from a maze of the mind," explains producer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Fractured Mind In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed female protagonist seeming to be of teenage years. Within her reside four distinct personas, each with their own fears and drives. These entities can take over spontaneously, unleashing their deep-seated terrors upon her without warning. Judging by revealed footage, much of the action takes place within a eerie hospital, while additional clips depict the protagonist exploring a abandoned chapel. A World of Individual Horror "What are you afraid of? What makes you uneasy?" asks game director Shun Sasaki. "High places. Small rooms. Authority figures. Elements that seem trivial to other people can activate something primal within us. This game delves into that concept — fears that are unique to each person." The core mechanic involves managing the persona that surfaces at any given moment. However, these souls will change involuntarily as you play. While exploring, every persona's anxieties become exaggerated and attack the protagonist one after another. When the soul changes, so does the particular terror the player encounters. Eerie Visuals and a Fatal Choice Initially, UN:Me shares noticeable visual similarities with the Silent Hill series. The hospital is populated by nurses who all share the same face, with unnervingly wide grins. Patients in the waiting room have enormous blooms where their heads are. Floral motifs are a recurring element, contrasting natural beauty with supernatural dread. Yet, UN:Me presents a singular mechanic. Players must determine which of the four souls haunting the heroine is the "true" one. "All four personas asserts that the physical form is rightfully them," notes a developer. "Throughout the game, you must determine who is real." Once players believes a soul is an impostor, they are forced to destroy it. However, because each soul can lie or obfuscate the reality, it is very easy to choose incorrectly. "Perhaps you've already destroyed the real [soul] by your own actions," the narration states. "The final entity standing could be a fake. In any case, your decisions are final." UN:Me currently lacks a publicly announced release date, but it is can be wishlist on digital storefronts.
