Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Calls Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Real Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Tottenham and Increase Tension on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed keeper Vicario were told afterwards "those individuals cannot be real Tottenham fans" by manager Frank.

Spurs let in a pair of goals in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, registering their tenth top-flight home loss of 2025.

However the main topic of discussion was the visitors' next score when Vicario gave away possession far beyond his box.

He ventured out to deal with a high pass and carried the ball near the touchline.

But, rather than booting it out of play, the Italy international turned and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

King laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the sideline measured at 36.6 metres.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to the keeper once more, a number of Tottenham fans booed him.

The team were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at the final whistle.

One of those booing sessions truly irritated Frank.

"It came to my attention some of our fans apparently booed the situation and jeered after, which, in my opinion is completely unacceptable," the Danish manager commented regarding the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] can't be true Spurs fans that do that. Fair enough booing after the game, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are behind one another moving ahead."

Tete had handed the visitors a early lead prior to Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Spurs in an improved second period performance.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the next score was "completely avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role the keeper is performing. He's a excellent squad member, he is a true leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"He was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the winning score."

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Match

Italian international Vicario is in his third season with Spurs.

The 29-year-old stated after the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"The second goal was a error of my own, I take accountability for that," he commented.

"My aim was to clear the ball far and I just hit the ball in a bad way. That made an more difficult mountain to overcome."

He stated being booed "comes with the game".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "We cannot be influenced by the situation in the crowd. The fans have the right to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to stay more composed, to focus on our own performance. We are missing in calmness and poise to overturn outcomes. Today is a poor defeat and it's tough to accept."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Line'

Despite Vicario's mistake, it was far from an easy score for Harry Wilson to score.

In fact it was the second longest-range Premier League score of the season – following Adams' 43.3 yard goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an empty net to target.

10 seconds elapsed between the keeper coming out of his box and the midfielder shooting – which was five moments following the kick.

"I felt like the keeper was away from the area for ages," Wilson remarked.

"I was surprised none of the defenders returned to the goal line. When none of them defended the goal, my eyes sparked somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which allowed me a little additional time. After that it was all about trying to make the right contact and place it on target. I had a good feeling, the moment it came off my foot, that it was heading in."

Booing While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - the Manager

While Vicario's mistake dominated headlines, this was an overall bad performance for Spurs to extend their home ground struggles.

This was their 10th at home loss of 2025 in the league, a shared club record along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against the manager's old side Brentford and champions Liverpool to play prior to the close of the season.

Just a single of those wins have occurred after Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"If you are down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated the boss.

"During in a poor run, everything appears to go against you as well – the opening was a deflected shot, the next is a error from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a position where we have lost another game. Every game has a single narrative, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully something we can use to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.

And they are recording 9.5 shots and three point two shots on target per match in the Premier League – their lowest averages on file in a one campaign (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Cottagers midfield player Murphy stated that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the criticism," the pundit said. "He has taken a high profile role at a huge team with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.

"The performances at home have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
