The Toronto Blue Jays earned a spot in their first World Series following 1993 by beating the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the ALCS. Behind 3-1, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three victory in the series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are the reigning title, in the forthcoming championship. "It's incredible for everyone here, our city, the nation," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 title. "It's truly an unbelievable moment." George Springer has now connected for 23 total playoff homers, making him third in history trailing only Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven). "It's hard to imagine another person on planet Earth that I want up in that spot except for Springer with his October magic," noted Blue Jays manager John Schneider. Seattle, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a championship series. Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it's going to sting" following his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their performance in the campaign. "They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he remarked. Toronto won the championship on both previous visits in the early 90s, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
