The Reds Will Not Abandon Offensive Approach Amid Current Struggles, Declares Slot

The Dutch manager has announced that the club's hierarchy are aligned with his perspective regarding the team's slump and he has no intention of discarding their attacking style in pursuit of a solution. The manager conceded that six defeats in seven outings was below standard ahead of Aston Villa's visit.

Increasing Scrutiny Amid Challenging Phase

Slot accepted the scrutiny was intense before his altered lineup suffered Carabao Cup elimination against the London club. However, he insisted that this need to reverse the decline is not coming from the club's ownership or management structure following a summer transfer outlay of approximately £450 million.

"Our views align," stated the Liverpool boss, whose side will meet Los Blancos in the Champions League and visit Manchester City in the domestic competition.

Team Strength Remains Unquestioned

The coach is convinced his team "possess an exceptional group if they are completely available and completely set for the programme we are facing". He mentioned that the recent signings in players such as the attacking midfielder and Alexander Isak, who is probably unavailable again against Villa through injury, had left the club "in a strong situation for the immediate prospects and the long-term future".

Gelling Difficulties

When pressed on why his team were struggling to integrate, he answered: "That's not particularly helpful. 'Why, why, why?' I provide reasons and people say I'm coming up with excuses. I can list multiple factors why we are struggling for victories or losing as much as we do but, as I always emphasize, there are insufficient justifications to have a run of form as we had now."

  • Even if I could identify 200 excuses
  • Leading this club you cannot lose
  • Unfortunately six out of seven

Defensive Numbers

Only the Lancashire club (twenty-one) have faced more big chances from open play this season than Slot's team (19). The table-toppers, Arsenal, have faced two. Yet Slot denies the team has been overly exposed and asserts there is no reason to sacrifice his attacking principles for a more pragmatic style after ten matches without a clean sheet.

"I don't see us allowing many opportunities so I don't see a reason to alter our approach entirely but we must improve in keeping clean sheets," he stated.

Recent Examples

"When facing United, how many openings did we give up? Against Eintracht Frankfurt when we were leading 3-1, we hardly conceded a effort at our net. In each fixture we played until now we haven't given up a lot of chances. Absolutely not. We do concede a somewhat more than the previous campaign but that has to do with us being behind early so you play more openly. But in general I don't think that our issue is that we give up too many openings. Our problem is we are unable to finish the opportunities we generate."
