Promoter Eddie Hearn Threatens Legal Action Against Chris Eubank Jr Over ‘Sabotage’ Allegations

Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn has vowed to take legal action against Eubank Jr, following the boxer alleged his rival’s camp of using dirty tricks and deliberate disruption before their highly anticipated rematch.

Claims Made by Eubank Jr

The boxer, who won their first encounter by clear judges’ verdict, claimed that emergency transport taking him to medical care post-fight was prevented from leaving for 20 minutes.

“Every effort was made to try and undermine me during the last fight,” Eubank Jr declared. “Contract breaches, fines, rehydration clauses, a sabotaged weigh-in, biased commentary and officiating. The list goes on.”

He further added that his support staff were blocked from accessing the venue and that stadium guards tried to delay his entry on purpose.

Strong Denial

Eddie Hearn rejected the allegations as “waffle” and threatened court action unless Eubank Jr retracts his statements.

“He is unaware is that there is official records on the event, which is there documented clearly,” Hearn stated.

He continued, “We expect an apology, or we will pursue legal steps. These accusations personally. The company’s integrity is second to none.”

Family Legacy

This conflict between the two boxers originates in a long-standing family rivalry that began 35 years ago during which their parents, Chris Eubank Sr and Nigel Benn, competed in a pair of epic matches.

Remembering a Boxing Legend

At the media event, Conor Benn honored to late boxer Hatton, after being discovered deceased at his home aged 46.

“Hatton represented a figure who really supported me professionally and a person that took me in like a mentor,” the boxer stated. “He made me feel at home when I didn’t have a home. His influence a lot to me.”

Looking Ahead to the Rematch

The rematch, marketed under “Unfinished Business,” will take place come November 15 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eubank Jr has enlisted coach Brian McIntyre in his corner, while his opponent vowed to come back as a better version of himself.

The trainer noted, “I believe this will be somewhat easier in the rematch. He already figured him out.”

Benn responded using a dismissive comment: “It’s amusing that he brought an additional coach , because you know that he’ll require the help.”
