🔗 Share this article One of Avatar's most beloved installments receives its own Magic: The Gathering special card drop. Ordinarily, recap episodes are disliked by fans as an unnecessary time filler, or perhaps viewed as essential for shows in the era of weekly production. That wasn't always true, but Avatar: The Last Airbender demonstrated this through "The Ember Island Players," a beloved segment from its final season that is now receiving a dedicated Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair collection. Information of the collector's edition The full Secret Lair superdrop for the soon-to-release Avatar: The Last Airbender set was unveiled on November 4. Containing five separate collections, and while a set named "My Cabbages!" is certainly amusing nod to the series' beloved recurring figure, the remaining sets seem somewhat less imaginative, aside from one remarkable entry: "The Ember Island Players." Drawing from installment 17 from season 3 of the beloved series, this collector's drop includes the following cards: 1x Phantasmal Image represented as "Absolutely Accurate Actor" 1x Braid of Fire 1x Cursed Mirror 1x Mask of Memory 1x Thespian's Stage The reason this episode stands out Fans of Avatar warmly cherish this episode, which functioned as a review of the hero Aang and his friends' journey leading up to the conclusion. In contrast to typical clip shows, or compilation episodes, "The Ember Island Players" was not driven from financial limitations or scheduling problems. The producers genuinely intended to give fans an opportunity to revisit the show's narrative, but they decided to execute it with flair. Throughout the segment, the heroes view a stage show based on their journeys at a playhouse on Ember Island, titled The Boy in the Iceberg. The whole thing is factually incorrect, over-the-top, and utterly comical. It works because it plays with the characters' perception about themselves, juxtaposing them compared to how society (and notably the Fire Nation citizens) perceives them. It possesses the perfect balance of introspective humor, and it results in possibly the finest interpretation of Avatar released so far. Value and pricing Regarding worth, this is a great Secret Lair because of one major element: Braid of Fire. This card is valued between $20 and $40 on various platforms currently, while for $29.99 you can obtain the complete collection, or alternatively $39.99 for the foil version. Magic: The Gathering's Avatar: The Last Airbender set will be available during early access events starting November 14 and launches globally on Nov. 21.
