Emmanuel Macron alongside his spouse intend to submit photographic and scientific testimony in a US court to confirm that Brigitte Macron is biologically female, according to their lawyer.
The couple brought a defamation suit in response to right-wing media personality Candace Owens, who publicly claimed that Mrs. Macron is not biologically female.
In response, defense lawyers requested to reject the claim.
“It is incredibly upsetting,” said legal counsel Tom Clare, noting that the allegations serve as a “distraction” to the president.
Clare stressed that expert testimony will be presented in court to counter the unfounded statements via comprehensive manner.
“She is absolutely determined to go through the process to clear her name,” he added.
When asked about whether images of Mrs. Macron with her children could be used, Clare confirmed that such evidence will be presented and can be introduced following legal standards.
The commentator, boasting millions of supporters on social media, persistently advanced the idea that the French first lady is not female.
These claims began circulating in niche internet groups earlier, gaining attention through videos created by French bloggers.
Even though the couple originally won a legal victory domestically, it was overturned in a higher court based on constitutional rights, as opposed to the truth of the claims.
The couple are now challenging the outcome.
In their Delaware filing, they allege that the defendant deliberately disregarded credible evidence and featured known defamers.
US defamation law stipulate that high-profile individuals establish “reckless disregard” from the accused party.
“It concerns defending my honour!” Emmanuel Macron stated in Paris Match. “It is baseless, promoted intending to causing harm.”
Owens’ legal team contend that the lawsuit cannot be litigated in the state of Delaware, pointing to procedural issues and possible personal strain.
Owens earlier defended her comments, affirming her belief in First Amendment rights.
